Frequently Asked Questions
Once you join the club, we'll send you your first book bundle. If you sign up before the last day of the month, you'll receive the current month's bundle. If you sign up on or after the first of the month, you'll get next month's bundle. (TLDR - or Too Long, Didn't Read - at the bottom for the SparkNotes version.)
Upon receiving your bundle, we encourage you to follow the tips provided with your bundle and read along with us on Instagram. Suggested steps to get the most out of your experience are the following:
Before starting your book, take out the Pre-Reading Guide and write out your thoughts for all the questions with your initial thoughts and feelings. This will help you see how your perspective has changed, or remained the same, after reading the book.
Start reading the book along with the club on Instagram. Be sure to keep track of where you are with one of the included bookmarks! There should be two in every bundle, and we suggest you give the second to a friend, or leave it at your local library, or hand it to a stranger at your local metaphysical store. The point is, if you're enjoying the club and think others would do, handing out the second bookmark is a small way help support to club, which we appreciate so very much.
Half-way through the reading period, we'll post a Mid-Month Check-In on our Instagram. We'd love if you checked it out, shared how you're feeling about the book so far, and maybe chat with other club members to see others have questions you may be able to answer.
If at any point you need a break from reading, check out the activity included! Every month, we're including a fun, bundle theme related activity that won't require many, if any, items to complete. You shouldn't have to break the bank for your practice, so if an activity requires you to gather an item, like say a pendulum, we'll always suggest a budget alternative, like your favorite necklace, that you can substitute instead.
Once you finish reading the book, go to the Post-Reading Guide and fill out the questions based on how you feel after reading the book, not based what the book teaches. Compare your answers from the Pre-Reading Guide to your new answers from the Post-Reading Guide. Don't forget to review the book and share your review on Instagram with #bcsreview
Lastly, get ready for the Monthly Virtual Meetup! We'll provide you with the Discussion Guide so you know what kind of stuff we're gonna talk about before hand. Feel free to journal your thoughts about the Discussion Questions so you're prepared for the date of the Meetup.

Because our books are non-fiction, there's no story to spoil at our Meetups. Whether you read 20 chapters or 20 pages, we want you to come! We'll discuss the concepts of the books, so even if you don't have any thoughts to share, it'll be a great chance to learn and ask questions about the craft. All club members are welcome and encouraged to participate, regardless of how much you've read or your level of experience in the craft. Your presence in our club is valued, and we're happy to have you.
We would love for our members to join our Monthly Meetups, but you don't have to participate if you don't want to. We understand that there are many reasons why some won't be able to participate, such as being busy on the day of the event, suffering from social anxiety, or simply not having an interest in getting together with a bunch of strangers. The Subscription for members is called The Solitary Reader after all. If you prefer to go about your craft on your own, by all means, please do! We are simply trying to offer a space, for those who want it, where witches and those curious about the craft can get together, engage in conversation, and feel a little less alone on their journeys.
Absolutely not, you do not have to be on Social Media to join the club.
We mention our Instagram a lot because it's a great way for us to advertise and grow the club. Every time a member interacts with our account, tags us, or uses our hashtags, it helps support the club exponentially. We also like to use Social Media as a tool to help club members connect and interact. While we appreciate all the members who support us through our socials, we completely understand and respect people's decisions to disconnect from it all.
